BA Companion Voucher Flights: How to Find and Book
Already have a UK British Airways Amex Companion Voucher? Start with the voucher in your BA account, then search for dates with that voucher selected. Ordinary reward availability is a useful starting point, but it is not the whole picture.

Two ways to start your search
Check your voucher’s availability
Log in to BA and select your voucher before searching. This is the important step for voucher-specific availability.
Search on British Airways →Explore ordinary reward dates
Use MileSeat’s BA calendar to explore dates, then check the exact flights, passenger count and voucher on BA.
Open the BA reward flight finder →Coverage note: MileSeat’s ordinary BA calendar has not been verified to include Premium Plus Companion Voucher extra inventory. A day marked available does not guarantee two seats or a voucher-eligible booking.
Which Companion Voucher do you have?
This guide covers UK BA American Express vouchers. Check the exact name, issue date and terms in your BA account. Other countries’ vouchers and older voucher types can have different rules.
| Card voucher | Validity | Cabins |
|---|---|---|
| BA Amex Credit Card | 12 months | Economy |
| BA Amex Premium Plus | 24 months | Any cabin; enhanced Club World availability when using the voucher |
BA’s current guidance allows these vouchers on British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus. The voucher holder must travel. Your account’s expiry and eligibility conditions remain the deciding rules.

How to find and book your flights
- Sign in to British Airways. Open Book with Avios and check the voucher is present in your account.
- Select the voucher before searching. Choose one adult for a solo voucher redemption, or the travellers you want to book together. Select dates, route and an eligible cabin.
- Check both directions. A suitable outbound flight does not establish return availability. Check the actual flight and number of travellers in the booking flow.
- Review the total. Check the voucher applied, Avios required, cash taxes and fees, and the ticket conditions before committing.
- Complete the booking with BA. MileSeat helps explore availability; it does not redeem your voucher or reserve the seats.
These steps follow BA’s published booking instructions. Screens and labels may change; this is not a claim that we have completed a purchase using your voucher.
Why can’t I find Companion Voucher flights?
- Ordinary and voucher-specific searches differ
- A Premium Plus voucher can unlock enhanced Club World availability. Select it on BA before concluding there are no seats. MileSeat does not currently establish that additional inventory.
- The cabin or dates may not match your voucher
- Confirm the voucher type, expiry and travel conditions. A Standard card voucher is not a business-class voucher.
- You need availability for your full party
- A calendar date with reward availability is not evidence of two seats on the same flight. Verify passenger count with BA.
- The return may not be open yet
- Check each leg’s booking window with our BA release-date guide and calculator.
Try nearby dates, another departure airport or a different eligible cabin. Confirm everything on BA, particularly when MileSeat’s data is old or incomplete. “Not collected” and “no seats available” are different states.
What happens to the Avios and taxes?
For two people, BA says the companion travels for no additional Avios, while cash taxes, fees and charges remain payable for both. For a solo redemption, an eligible voucher reduces the Avios by 50%; the solo traveller still pays their cash charges.
For illustration only: if the eligible normal price is 80,000 Avios plus £300 per person, a two-person voucher booking could use 80,000 Avios plus £600 rather than 160,000 Avios plus £600. A solo use could require 40,000 Avios plus £300. These numbers explain the mechanism; they are not a live quote.
Use the Avios route calculator for a starting point, then enter the actual voucher quote into the points vs cash calculator.
Can I track dates while I keep looking?
You can use MileSeat to explore ordinary BA reward availability and create supported seat alerts. An alert is not a reservation and is not a promise of Companion Voucher extra inventory. Check the data’s update time and always confirm on BA before transferring points or booking other travel.
